ACMA is involved in a range of activities across the country.
In Western Australia ACMA has recently completed a significant role as Nurse Advisor with a large non profit group providing support to a facility that was subject to 24 non compliances. ACMA was successful in working with the Standards and Accreditation Agency, DoHA and the facility to avoid sanction and to regain full compliance. Subsequenbtly ACMA developed a Modified Gap Analysis tool that has been used to provide cost effective review of all 13 facilities.
In South Australia ACMA is currently working with disability services at Minda Inc to prepare the aged care services for accreditation in June. Other services have included the day to day clinical management of the service, making application for new bed places in the 2011 ACAR round, reviewing and restructuring staff rosters and mentoring existing staff. ACMA has undertaken a formal gap analysis and has a consultant in place 3 days per week to develop new auditing processes and documentation of care.
ACMA is currently engaged by Anglicare SA to oversee the accreditation site audit on 20 and 21 february, working closely with facility staff to successfully achieve full compliance. We have now been engaged to manage their 69 bed facility at Norwood.
ACMA consultants have undertaken a 100% review of current ACFI claims and identified a significant amount of unclaimed funding. We are now working with clinical staff to reassess and resubmit ACFI claims.
ACMA have been successful in working with the Salvation Army to review the services of both their Adelaide based Aged Care Service and community based disability service. The transition to a new provider was completed at the end of January 2012. This was a very successful process with all clients remaining in the same accommodation and services and support being retained.
ACMA recently sent one consultant to Brisbane to undertake a follow up ACFI review with Peninsula Care at Wellington Park. This review was requested following a change in senior clinical staff. ACMA again identified significant financial increases and provided onsite education to allow facility staff to maintain the assessment and claims process.
In December and January 2012 ACMA was engaged as Nurse Advisor to Kings Park Nursing Home following the accreditation agency identifying 23 non compliances. The facility was subsequently closed with all residents placed into appropriate care in Adelaide metropolitan area.
ACMA was approached in February 2012 to be appointed Nurse Advisor to a service in Brisbane but was unable to accept the position because of existing commitments.
